HILLCREST HALLS SPECIAL MEETING

A meeting was held with the Architect to to thought ideas for the new halls.  Users were invited along with the committee to put suggestions forward amongst them were the Young Clubs, Slimming World, the Focus School of Dance, The Art Club.  I am impressed that the hall is so well used, also new an afterschool club is starting.

As this was popular last year with the Group I organised this again at the Oaks Restaurant.

It was disappointing that we did not have an opera singer to lead us in the 12 days of christmas but we had a go!!!!

I was invited to be a speaker along with Tom Brake and thanked the committee for the tremendous work they had done in the area over the last year, theeir help with pushing the new halls project has been wonderful.  I had the pleasure of meeting up with some of the residents that attend the South Carshalton Day Centre on a Monday, and asked if there were others who would like to attend.  A wonderful buffet was put on.  Tim also joined me but he was suffering with the flu.

OUTING TO LONDON TO SEE LIGHTS

Once again I joined the Church of Good Shepherds Wed Group on their trip to London, but first we stopped in Morden for a Fish Supper.  The lights were good this year especially in Regent Street  with nets of lights hanging in the centre of the street.

DAY OFF FROM WORK

As this was my last days holiday due in 2008 my friend and I decided to go to London, we did Oxford Street till we dropped and had lunch in Debenhams, but wait for it …. before I went to London I joined the Sutton Housing Estate Walk about at Clockhouse.  I have to make use of every minute of the day.  I think I am pushing myself now!!!!

Once again my friend and I attended but this year I thought it would be nice to have our friends at our table, so I invited 6 others to join us, they thought the evening was wonderful and want to come next year.  The Speakers where Kate Adie and the team behind the QI.  This was held again at the Hilton in Purley Way with a champagne reception and a wonderful dinner.

One of my  friends that I have known for 20 years asked me to attend with her, it is always a good evening a few laughs a lot of raffle prizes.  Even though I had attended the coffee morning and the christmas fayre I had to make time to go with Janet.

Once again I helped on the Jam stall, the contents of this stall go so well with a bit of my sales pitch “don’t be disappointed buy early”, etc.  and of course dressed up in seasonal attire. We took over £200 on this stall, the proceeds of the fayre all go to Charity.  Well don all that help and attended.

Thanks to C and T for their help in hosting this, it was well attended with a christmas raffle, mince pies, sausage rolls and of course mulled wine!

STANLEY ROAD ALLOTMENTS

This group were having a get together at the Greyhound, I was Referee on their applicationn for a lottery grant to build a new Trading Hut, fingers crossed.  The new hut will put life into this allotment and enable holders to obtain seeds, etc cheaply in bulk purchase.
